Specs and Reds: Fly Stripping Techniques

ok so ive been fly fishing for about 2 years and i need to know if theres certain patterns or ways of retreiving your fly for certain fish because the only way i know is to pull the line twitch it a little bit and to
just pull in line so is there any other way i can retreive flys to attract more attention

Sometimes I can only get spooky bonefish to take a fly that is stopped, or the minute you stop stripping the fly the permit spooks. I've seen tarpon that will smash a popper on the surface, and some that will only take a delicately placed fly stripped smoothly. I think a good key is to get a reaction from a fish and go from there. If the last fish you cast at definately saw the fly, but didn't take, then maybe adjust your strip. |
