Saltwater Fly Line: Fly Fishing Gear Tips
Posted by 2Stroke_Smoke on Tuesday, January 29 @ 20:08:50 PST
I am fairly new to fly fishing and would like some recommendations on saltwater fly lines. I am using a Ross CLA 5 paired with a 9wt St. Croix Avid series rod. I have had good success with 9wt line and would prefer to stay in that line class - but I am open to suggestions. I spend the majority of my time chasing Redfish, Trout and Snook in east central florida. Any recommendations as to a good casting, easy to manage line would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks...

It has a bit of memory and will coil if not properly stretched, but its fat head casts unbelievably well. I would not rule out trying the new Sharkskin Line From Scientific Angler when it becomes available. I recently had a chance to throw it at Vaughn Cochran's shop, Black Fly Outfitter, and I'll most likely be fishing it soon. |

Great for shorter casting. Alot like the SA Redfish Taper. Only bad thing about that line is the memory gets kinda bad when its cold out. That new Sharkskin line is really great. No memory. Casts a mile! Sounds really cool in the air when casting. |
