Tips, Ties And Tactics Florida: Where Would You Move To?
Posted by Fish_King_7 on Monday, August 06 @ 15:47:48 PDT

If you could make the move to anywhere in FL where would it be and why? I ask because I am strongly considering moving to FL for at least a year if not a while next spring and have been pretty set on Naples, but figured I would see what others thought.

If everything goes as planned I will be bringing my 18' flats skiff with me so that helps getting around as well. Thanks for any and all replies...

Caleb

I guess all would depend on the funds you have available and what you have to do to make a living.

Allthough Naples is nice it is also pretty expensive and I guess a zoo when the season is running.
Maybe I would search for a quiter place
in the Gulf further North.

Best to be answered by Diamond Dave or other locals since I am a tourist from abroad and view these issues differently

There are so many options, it just depends on what you are looking for. I can say that if I didn't live in Naples, I might look into Homestead or Florida City as it borders the Everglades and the Keys.

I agree with headrush on this one. Homestead would make a great base camp. I still can't get those Permit out of my head....Those flats in the keys are crystal clear!! I hope that fishery stays intact for a long time to come.

Well at first I will just be transferring as a sales associate for West Marine, so pretty much I can live anywhere as long as it isn't too pricey, Naples is about as expensive as I can afford. But if I do decide to stay for a while I would like to possibly start guiding. Homestead looks very nice, I will have to look into housing more there. I already checked and they have various West Marines near by so it would work with that...

Thanks
Caleb
