Tips, Ties And Tactics Trinidad and Tobago: Fly Fishing Opportunities
Posted by Fish_King_7 on Wednesday, January 03 @ 20:08:02 PST

Hey everyone, I am leaving for a few week trip with my school to Trinidad and Tobago. Most of my time will be spent in Tobago and I will probably be able to fish early mornings and at night for the most part and then maybe a couple full days. First of all I was wondering if anyone has ever been fishing on these islands? Secondly if anyone has an info on fish species they have heard about being abundant, and thirdly flies that I should not be without? I have done some research but it seems as if this fishery is still in it's infancy and not too explored.

I have heard that most of my catches from shore will be snook, jacks, bonefish, permit and tarpon with lots of other rock dwelling species mixed in. If anyone has any info or input at all it would be highly appreciated. Thanks again

Caleb

Hey caleb. Theres not much that I can tell you as far as the fishery other that the fact the my stepdad went there as a mission trip while he was a teen. I just asked him more about his trip and he said that he did not do any fishing while he was there but there were people that he went with who did and they caught fish, but he doenst know what species or any details. So im sorry this isnt of any help to you but I just thought it was interesting that my stepdad had also been there. Hope you get some information.

I really want to hear how it went. I may be heading down in mid February to Tobago. My In-Laws have an apartment down there on Castara Bay. If I don't get down in Feb. I will get down there another time for sure.
